After catching up with friends and our respective, increasingly-gargantuan children for New Year's Eve, we've spent the morning packing and weighing our luggage / alarming array of electronic devices. We were initially scheduled for departure at a little after 3:45pm, but due to apocalyptic fires along the coast (and resultant blanket of smoke across the Tasman) - things have been pushed back to 8:15pm. We're anticipating a new arrival time of 1:25am, and am uncharacteristically optimistic of catching our hire car folk just before they close up shop at 2:00am.
